MENDOTA HEIGHTS, MN — Henry Sibley High School will be renamed Two Rivers High School, The St. Paul Pioneer Press reported.
The school board for Independent School District 197 voted 5-1 Monday to change the name, the report said.
School officials are unsure when school signage will officially change, according to the report.
The district previously sent out a survey with a list of 5 potential names.
The decision to rename the school was made after the district was made aware that Henry Sibley, the first governor of Minnesota, assisted in the hanging of 38 Dakota men.
