There was a time when the filibuster was a necessary buffer against the abuse of power from the majority. That time ended with the arrival of Mitch McConnell. He has no respect for democracy. He sees democracy as an irritant and barrier to his political ambitions. He is perfectly willing to discard the rules & traditions of the Senate to win at all costs. By defending the filibuster at this time, you are playing right into his hands. For the sake of principle, you are empowering Trump & his QAnon followers. Where is the pragmatism in that? To preserve domestic tranquility, temporarily end the filibuster. Failure to do so may result in civil war.
