Are you a guitarist over 45 years old with previous band experience? A mature, non-egotistical team player? Love classic rock? Want to keep playing with other talented veteran musicians, but without a lot of pressure? In it for fun rather than money, but want to play gigs too? Willing to do homework and put in the rehearsal time necessary to do it right as a matter of pride and professionalism? If so, you’ve come to the right place! We are two highly experienced 50+ musicians, recently transplanted to the Sarasota area from LA, who feel this way and are looking for a couple of guitarists to put together a high-quality band playing non-cliche classic rock and some soul/R&B, with a few other types of tunes occasionally thrown in for variety (e.g., blues, funk, southern rock, reggae, doo-wop and maybe a show tune or two, but not country, metal, grunge or rap). We are a professionally trained female singer and keyboard player who has sung in bands, musical theater and at Carnegie Hall, and a lifelong classic rock bass player. We both have full equipment; have played in many bands before; and know the drill. We’re looking for a lead and a rhythm guitarist (male or female) to complete the group. At least one of them must be able to sing lead. Based on past experience, we do not anticipate great difficulty in finding a drummer. We already have an extensive song list (which we’d be happy to share with you), but we’re willing to adjust the repertoire to accommodate our new members. We contemplate rehearsing once a week (probably on weekend afternoons), subject to our new members’ schedules. Rehearsals will be somewhere convenient to all in the Sarasota area.
