Press release from the Scottsdale Police Department: June 22, 2021 The Scottsdale Police Department (SPD) received a grant from the Arizona Governor's Office of Highway Safety in February of 2021 related to Prop 207. This Grant, #2021-207-004, provided the opportunity for SPD to utilize these funds for DUI Enforcement, Traffic Enforcement, Equipment, and Training. These funds will provide the Scottsdale Police Department with extra staffing for DUI saturation patrols to reduce the number of impaired drivers on the roadways. The money will also go toward extra training for officers on advanced DUI investigation techniques. Fourteen Talon II handheld Radar devices were purchased and will enhance the Scottsdale Police Department's ability to enforce traffic laws and promote traffic safety. The radars will play an integral part in pedestrian and bicyclist safety throughout the City of Scottsdale. Crash Data Retrieval hardware and software was purchased to enhance traffic safety through the City of Scottsdale. These tools are utilized during crash and traffic related investigations. They provide integral information to enhance these investigations that otherwise might not be available. The City of Scottsdale and the Scottsdale Police Department would like to thank the Arizona Governor's Office of Highway Safety for their continued support in making the City of Scottsdale's streets safe.
