Singer/Lead Guitar Wanted for "New Classic Rock"
Meets
Gardner MA
Description
Not sure who will be interested but if you are, let me know. I'll try to be as honest as I can be in this ad so nobody feels like their time is getting wasted or the band "isn't what I'm looking to do". So what's below isn't a joke, it's being upfront, so I'll apologize now if it seems rude, it isn't meant to be. Experienced drums, bass, and rhythm guitar looking for a lead singer, lead guitar player, or someone who is interested in doing both. RG and bass player can sing occasional leads and backing vocals, but aren't "lead singer of the band" material, I guess you could say. We are putting together a cover band focusing on 90's and 2000's alt rock, popular rock, and some other fan-favorite rock-style songs. Basically, those songs everyone is now calling "the new classic rock". Not looking to do the "traditional" classic rock, except maybe a tune here and there. Set list covers artists like Sublime, RHCP, STP, Foo Fighters, Blink 182, Toadies, Cranberries, Offspring, etc. We are looking to reproduce the tunes in a similar fashion to the original recordings, as much as our ability and instrumentation allows. We have a starting setlist, but looking to add. I guess you could say we might be the cliche "midlife crisis" type of group right now, but we prefer to think we're still cool I suppose. We are open to a M/F lead singer, gender not important, interest and ability are key. Hopefully you'd be comfortable fronting a band and have experience and good stage presence. The lead singer is key to the success of the group, to be perfectly honest, so we're hoping to find someone with some versatility and the ability to sing on key, have good timing and phrasing, and read musical cues. We are open to a M/F lead guitar player, and like a singer, gender is not important but you should really like the music we are playing and want to play it. If you can rip through "Eruption" or kill it on "Crazy Train", that's awesome but that's not what we are looking to do. We're not looking to drop the tunes in favor of "Stranglehold" or any Pat Travers tune because it's what you really want to play. If it is, that's cool, but you should go to a band that plays that because we most likely will not. If you fit the bill for both vocals and guitar together, even better. Wait there's more! We currently have no gigs lined up. I can tell you we have connections and we can get in places once we're ready, but everyone says that. It's true....but right now nothing is booked pending finalizing the lineup. And we want to be sure when we do go out, we actually sound good and we're not going to embarrass anyone. So there's that..... We would like to get $ for what we do but the fun factor is more important (code for "there's no money coming in yet"). We don't know if a cover band playing this will hit well with crowds, but we're looking to try it out and focus on places like all of the breweries and trendy places where the 25-40 year olds hang out now. Seriously, though...we are fun people looking for one or two like-minded people who see themselves doing the same thing. We have established rehearsal space (drummer's house), PA, lights, but unfortunately no smoke machine......but if you're looking to have a good time with no attitudes, like what we're looking to do, money is nice but you'd show up to rehearsal anyway and play a dive bar here and there on the cheap, maybe this is the band for you. Anyway, that's it. If this ad resonates with you and you see the humor, you read it and said "hell yeah", and it caught your eye, shoot me a message about what you do and what your experience is like. Please don't send me back an email that just says "setlist please", have me send it to you, only to never hear from you again.
