Michigan Jazz Orchestra is a NEW community jazz band forming out of Rochester to rehearse and perform ‘contemporary’ big band tunes. We’re looking for musicians to complete an enthusiastic and talented core group. Planning on 2 rehearsals per month and 2 shows per year. Charts from the Buddy Rich, Stan Kenton, Count Basie, Maynard Ferguson and Butch Nordall library’s initially. Hope to include and explore the great recordings of Snarky Puppy at some point. This group will be a labor of love, hopefully to provide music lovers and musicians a chance to enjoy this great music. Paydays will be rare, if at all.
