All proceeds from the We Are One Benefit Concert will be directly donated to the Community Hospice music therapy program in Gainesville. The We Are One Summer Benefit Concert is the summer finale of the Compassionate Music Series 2021. This series, hosted by the Compassionate Music Singers (CMS) and Community Hospice and Palliative care, included numerous mini-concerts at local assisted living facilities and hospice centers in Gainesville. The CMS enhance the healing process by bringing joy through music to residents of hospice and assisted living facilities and their families. We recognize the value of selfless sacrifices in our time, energy and talents. After the long 2020 year, we aim to give the best show yet and raise enough money to keep music therapy programs in our local assisted living facilities alive and well. Come out and enjoy a two-part show with 50s-60s classics and contemporary pop. This is a donation-only event. Recommended minimum donation is $15. Emily Lopez Has a Masters in Music Performance and a Graduate Certification in Music Medicine with an emphasis on vocal health and pedagogy from the University of South Florida. Her opera debut in 2012 as Pamina in The Magic Flute led to a series of successful musicals and operas throughout the greater Florida area. Immediately following this role Emily starred in several major musical roles including Amneris from the musical Aida, Johanna from Sweeney Todd, Marianne from The New Moon, Marietta from The Naughty Marietta, Pippi from The Great American Trailer Park Musical, Celie from Signor Deluso, and premiered the opera original Under the Rainbow written by local playwright– Alan Gerber. Emily has performed with numerous major companies including the Assisi Performing Arts Company in Assisi, Italy, Opera Tampa, The St. Petersburg Opera Guild, The Florida Orchestra, Sarasota Opera, and the Tampa Bay Master Chorale with shows like, South Pacific by Rodgers and Hammerstein, and Charles Gounod’s Romeo et Juliette. Thus far, in her performance career, she has performed in over 20 major productions and currently holds over 15 awards.
