Description
Join Girl Scouts of NYPENN Pathways for an afternoon cruise aboard a Discover Cayuga Lake charter Join Girl Scouts of NYPENN Pathways for an afternoon cruise aboard a Discover Cayuga Lake charter as we tour the lake and get a “peek” at our beautiful and historic Girl Scout camp property, Comstock Adventure Center. The cruise takes us up the west shore by Comstock and then loops to the east side, past beautiful cliffs. Narrators will offer up the lake’s cultural and natural history. Our camp namesake, Anna Botsford Comstock, wrote the Handbook of Nature Study in the early 1900s, pioneering the field of modern-day environmental education. Comstock was the first woman to serve as an assistant professor at Cornell University in Ithaca and made a noticeable impact on future "movers and shakers" in the environmental world. She believed in celebrating the connection between humans and nature, and what children could learn from it. We’re so fortunate to have our Camp Comstock, where we continue her legacy and mission through Girl Scout programs in the outdoors! Restrooms available on board. Cost includes 2-hour tour, hors d'oeuvres, 1 complimentary cocktail and the opportunity to meet fellow Girl Scout alums and friends of Girl Scouting. Guests are asked to arrive at the boarding location by 1:30 p.m., charter departs promptly at 2 p.m. (Note: capacity is currently 47 attendees due to present COVID-19 restrictions; any updates will be shared.) Refund Policy: No refunds unless tour company has to cancel our charter Girl Scouts of NYPENN Pathways Girl Scouts began over 100 years ago with one woman, founder Juliette Gordon “Daisy” Low, who believed in the power of every girl.
