Our event theme is Reopening A Nonprofit During A Pandemic and we'll be joined by two wonderful speakers: Melissa Kaiser - CEO of DISCOVERY Children’s Museum Greg Wilken - Founder and CEO of Endunamo Consulting As Nevada opens up to full capacity this month, our featured speakers will share their expertise in reopening a nonprofit following a pandemic shutdown, including: The key HR/legal issues raised by reopening and bringing your employees back to work.How to reengage your teams following the pandemic, whether they are working onsite, remotely, or in a hybrid model.How to position your organization for maximum success as we come out of the pandemic and head into a tight labor market.How the business environment has changed due to Zoom.The pros and cons of managing hybrid work schedules. You may also submit your questions in advance using this form. ----------------------- Access to Experts (A2E) is a program created by YNPN Southern Nevada as a way to connect emerging nonprofit professionals with current nonprofit and community leaders who share their stories, experiences, and expertise, with the goal of providing professional development and advice. MEET THE SPEAKERS Melissa KaiserMelissa Kaiser is the CEO of DISCOVERY Children’s Museum, a nonprofit educational institution in Las Vegas, Nevada. Kaiser moved to Las Vegas to take the helm of the museum in May 2018, bringing more than 25 years non-profit management experience with an expertise in fundraising, partnership building, and strategic planning to the community. Under Kaiser’s leadership, DISCOVERY Children’s Museum has increased its support revenue and grown its annual operating budget by 18% between 2018 and 2021. DISCOVERY also became the first museum in Nevada to join the national Museums for All program of the Association of Children’s Museums and Institute of Museum and Library Services, which grants families on assistance and foster care families reduced admission of $3 per person. To promote the program and reach more Spanish-speaking families, the Museum launched a Hispanic marketing campaign and added bilingual signage throughout its galleries. In its first year, the program served close to 30,000 individuals. In February 2019, the Museum unveiled a new makerspace gallery focusing on STEAM education, incorporating learning tools and modalities including robotics, 3D printing, clay making, and tinkering – a highlight of Kaiser’s first year. Before joining DISCOVERY, Kaiser served as the Executive Vice President of Development at Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA) in Philadelphia, the nation’s first Museum and School of fine arts, boasting one of the top three collections of American art in the world. She led the organization’s capital campaign and development department, which was successful in raising over $20 million for the expansion of its facilities to house a new fine art illustration major and increase storage space for the museum’s collection. In addition, Kaiser and her team contributed to the achievement of eight consecutive balanced budgets for the $17 million dollar organization. Prior to her tenure at PAFA, Kaiser served as Director of Development at the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society and Assistant Director of Development at Pennsylvania Ballet. Kaiser earned her Certified Fund Raising Executive certification in 2007 and holds Bachelor of Arts degrees in Art History and French from Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. She is a member of the International Women’s Forum, the Summerlin Las Vegas Rotary Club, Executive Women’s Council of the Las Vegas Metro Chamber of Commerce, Jameson Fellowship, and the Downtown Vegas Alliance. She also serves as a Trustee and Secretary of the Board of RAIR Philly (Recycled Artist in Residency) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Melissa and her husband, Roy, live in Summerlin, Nevada with their boxer, Kiko. Her stepson, Roy III (30), lives in Austin, Texas and stepdaughter Cristina (25) in Los Angeles, California. Greg WilkenGreg Wilken is the Founder and CEO of Endunamo Consulting, LLC. Endunamo is a Human Resources consulting company that focuses on providing HR expertise and services to nonprofit organizations. Endumamo’s clients include United Way of Southern Nevada, SafeNest, the Discovery Children’s Museum, and others. Endunamo works closely with organizations to provide highly-personalized, cost-effective HR consulting that helps them to flourish and be more mission-driven. Greg is also the co-founder of the HR Collaborative, a group that he formed to provide networking and professional-development opportunities to HR professionals who work for southern Nevada nonprofits. The HR Collaborative meets bimonthly and is open to anyone who works for a southern Nevada nonprofit and is interested in helping their organization to be more successful. Prior to forming Endunamo, Greg practiced employment and labor law and worked in corporate human resources. He has worked in all aspects of HR with a particular focus on employee relations, labor-management relations and HR compliance. Greg has a B.A. from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota where he majored in History and a J.D. from the University of Baltimore School of Law. He is licensed to practice law in Nevada and Minnesota. Greg is a part-time instructor at the UNLV School of Continuing Education where he teaches courses on human resources and employment law. Greg currently serves on the Boards of Nevada State SHRM Council and the Southern Nevada SHRM Chapter as well as the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network. Greg lives in Las Vegas and spends his free time running, cooking, and traveling.
