For Military Women & Veterans only - join us for an afternoon of sunshine and kayaking on the Grand River in Lansing, MI For Military Women & Women Veterans only - Join us for an afternoon of sunshine and kayaking & on the Grand River in Lansing, MI This event is being offered by the Woman Veteran Strong peer support group. * Arrive NLT 12:45pm (*we will not be able to delay the departure time if you are late) * Meeting point at Tecumseh Park (2224 Tecumseh River Dr.) to Delta Mills Park (7001 Old River Tr.) * Boat launch is located at the east end of the park * Free parking * We will coordinate with one another after registration closes to have vehicles at the end of the trip to bring us back to the starting point * Safety vests (life-jackets) provided * Recommended attire: bathing suit and comfortable coverup, or shorts and a tank top, hat/sunglasses, sandals with straps * Other items you may want to bring: sunscreen & insect spray on-site (application before arrival encouraged), water, dry bag, change of clothes (just in case!, towel Trip Description: DELTA MILLS ADVENTURE Drop in at beautiful Tecumseh Park on the west side of the city. The river is rather narrow and deep to start this adventure which creates a steady current making paddling almost optional. Fish, waterfowl and turtles abound on the route. Your journey ends at Delta Mills Park, just past the Webster Rd. Bridge. This trip has some spots of wide open water and some technical spots, so it is best for paddlers who have some kayaking experience.
