DAVIDSON, NC — In the wake of a pedestrian death on Main Street last week, the Town of Davidson is hosting a community mental health event Thursday night focused on trauma. "A small town like Davidson experiences loss and grief in an impactful way— together as a community. So, we find ourselves today mourning the death of one of our community members during a tragic accident downtown," the town said Monday. On June 17, Davidson resident Suzanne Younts, 64, was killed on Main Street near CVS drugstore around 1 p.m. on Main Street near the intersections of Chairman Blake Lane and South Street. Says the town about the event: "Psychiatrist Kevin Marra, M.D., Davidson resident and Director of Medical Services at HopeWay, and Tom Gettelman, Ph.D., Chief Clinical Officer and Director of Admissions at HopeWay will offer a short presentation about trauma, a risk factor for mental health issues and substance use disorders.
