BABYLON, NY— Long Island theaters and concert venues were one of the most affected businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic. One space in Babylon Village has announced they are excited to finally reopen. The Argyle Theatre at 34 W. Main St. opened in the longstanding movie theater in 2018. Only two years later, the venue had to shut down for an entire year. In a sign of the almost complete return to normalcy, tickets are once again on sale for live events in Babylon. "We are thrilled to announce our reopening after the long Covid closure. We can't wait to welcome you back through the doors of the Argyle Theatre once again," the theatre owners posted on Facebook last week. The first performance this summer will be "Joplin's Pearl: A Tribute to Janis Joplin," with Long Island artist Amber Ferrari. Shows begin July 17. The tribute show is a musical theater production with Woodstock-era period costumes, a nine-piece accompanying band and an interactive show designed for the audience to participate in.
