The Southwestern Michigan Iris Society will present a Late Blooming Iris Show at Wedel’s Nursery, Florist, and Garden Center. Different kinds of late blooming iris will be displayed. The late blooming Japanese Iris will be featured. Louisiana, Spuria, and Pseudata iris are also late blooming iris that might be displayed. Don’t know what they are? This is your chance to learn and see these iris that bloom almost a month after the Tall Bearded Iris. Entries by the public are very welcome (must be in at 9AM). Any Iris that is in bloom may be entered. The Iris Show is presented as an educational exhibit for the public. Hopefully you will come to see the late blooming irises between 10 am and 5 pm. Where else can you visit 3 or 4 gardens of flowers in air conditioned comfort on a hot muggy day. Shop early for the best choices and before they are sold out! (This year the Farmer’s Market is at Mayor’s Riverfront Park, 251 Mills Street, Kalamazoo 49048.) Also if you are also interested in some beautiful daylilies, the Kalamazoo Area Daylily Society has their sale the week before this (The last Saturday in July) same place and time.
