Description
Bird Outing with Feminist Bird Club Seattle to Celebrate Pride, Sunday June 27th Join the Seattle Chapter of the Feminist Bird Club for morning of birding at the UW Arboretum & fund-raise to support the Trans Women of Color Solidarity Network! To celebrate pride, we'll have bird-themed activities throughout the outing exploring queer ecology and our avian friends. We will be meeting at the Graham Visitor center at the UW Arboretum and leaving for our walk around at 9:00am! The majority of the trails on this walk are well-maintained and flat. Please dress for warm, sunny weather and we suggest bringing snacks and/or cool drinks. As always, all are welcome on this walk!! *As we begin to host bird outings again, we want to make sure that we continue to take care of one another. This outing is limited to 20 people, and we will be breaking into small groups to bird. We are asking everyone to bring a mask and give one another space, regardless of vaccination status. We plan to check-in with the group about masks on the morning of the event. We also require that all participants follow our code of conduct. Please reach out to [email protected] if you have any questions, or need to borrow a pair of binoculars! Registration is donation-based, and 100% of the donations will go towards the Trans Women of Color Solidarity Network Fund. All donations include a 2021 FBC sticker! In their own words: “The TWOC Solidarity Network upholds the self determination of Two-Spirit, Trans Women and Femmes of color and creates opportunities to exercise collective and community care. The fund is one element of how we are confronting the systematic economic disempowerment and violence that Two-Spirit, Trans Women and Femmes of Color face in our region. We know unrestricted financial resources can really make a difference and we believe that the resources already exist in our community to support TWOC to survive and thrive.” ***Curious about our owl's pride flag?
