Frontman, singer-songwriter, world-renowned upright bassist, multi-instrumentalist, Scott Mulvahill has left his unique mark on the intersecting worlds of Americana, bluegrass, folk, jazz, rock & roll, and roots music.
On his latest EP, "Surrounded", Mulvahill features studios full of strings and horns, adding rich new layers to his excellent music.
When Mulvahill first came to Lafayette in 2017 as a member of Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder, he was a somewhat anonymous bass player. Then Skaggs stepped aside and allowed Mulvahill to perform his own stripped-down, jazzed-up rendition of a somewhat obscure old Bluegrass song, "2020 Vision (and Walking Around Blind.)" Everyone present remembers Mulvahill's performance. He was no longer anonymous.
After five years with Skaggs, Mulvahill left to embark on his solo career.
In the intervening years he has toured solo, performed an NPR Tiny Desk concert, released his first full length solo CD, "Himalayas," toured with Lauren Daigle, toured with Cory Wong, toured annually with Andrew Peterson's "Behold the Lamb of God" Christmas concert, performed at the Grand Ole Opry, and released two EP's, "Creative Potential" and "Surrounded," which are now two sides of a vinyl LP. He also returned to Lafayette three times.
Last year he sold out the Acadiana Center for the Arts. Come see him again, or see what you missed. You'll be glad you did.
