Firefighters Save Numerous Pets During House Fire: Stamford FD

STAMFORD, CT — Thanks to a rapid response, firefighters were able to save numerous pets and stop a house a fire from spreading to other residences on Lincoln Avenue in Stamford last night. According to a news release, firefighters were alerted to a report of a house fire at 18 Lincoln Ave. at 9:14 p.m. Thursday. Initial arriving fire companies arrived on scene in less than three minutes and immediately went to work on locating and extinguishing the fire. As firefighters proceeded inside the residence, several family pets were located and safely removed from the home. A second alarm was called, and more personnel arrived on the scene shortly after 9:30 p.m. Overall, four Engine Companies, a Truck Company, a Heavy Rescue Company, and the Shift Commander responded with a total of 26 personnel. The fire was eventually placed under control, and damage was contained to the second floor and attic space of the residence, the Stamford Fire Department said. No injuries were reported to the occupants of the home, or to firefighters. Stamford Emergency Medical Services and the Stamford Police Department assisted on scene. The cause and origin of the fire is under investigation by the Fire Marshal's Office.
