MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — If you're looking for things to do this weekend, consider these five events in Montgomery County. This is a local look at the weekend, but if you're searching for something else, check out our statewide guide. Here's what you can do on June 19 and 20: 1. Freedom at the Rock Saturday, June 1910 a.m. to 10 p.m. BlackRock Center for the Arts12901 Town Commons Drive Germantown, MD 20874 This Juneteenth event will feature live music, food, art, films and awards. The event is being held by Montgomery County at the BlackRock Center for the Arts. 2. Fridays at the Farm Crab & Barbeque Feast Smokey Glen Farm will have horseshoees, mini golf and a long list of buffet items on Friday night. (Colleen Martin/Patch) Friday, June 185:30 to 8:30 p.m. Smokey Glen Farm 16407 Riffleford RdGaithersburg, MD 20878 The crab and barbecue feast will have these items on the menu: steamed seasoned crabs, steamed seasoned shrimp, barbecued chicken, barbecued spareribs, Kosher style hot dogs, mac & cheese, baked beans, corn on the cob, big salad bar, cole slaw, potato salad, fresh baked bread, charcoal-baked pies and unlimited iced tea, lemonade and sodas. 3. Takoma Pride Weekend June 19 and 2oWhere? Shops and restaurants of Takoma Head to Takoma for a Drag Queen story time at the gazebo, a performance by Be Steadwell, or visit the new rainbow crosswalk with county council member Evan Glass. 4. MOCO Animal Shelter ReopeningThe shelter has been operating on an appointment-only basis during the pandemic. (Colleen Martin/Patch) Sunday, June 20 Noon to 5 p.m. 7315 Muncaster Mill Road Derwood, MD 20855 The Montgomery County Animal Shelter and Adoption Services will be fully reopening this Sundayfor anyone who wants to look for a pet, without an appointment. Appointments will still be available, but are not required. If you do think you might want to adopt, be sure to check the website and bring all of the required paperwork with you when you visit. 5. Storm Drain Art Exhibit Friday, Saturday, and Sunday Bohrer Park506 S Frederick AveGaithersburg, MD, 20877 The decorated Storm Drains are part of a competition in Gaithersburg that aimed to bring attention to protecting the Chesapeake Bay watershed. There were five contest winners and four honorable mentioned, determined by Gaithersburg's Stormwater Management and Cultural Events & Services Divisions.
