POINT PLEASANT BEACH, NJ – A Brick man has been arrested and charged with making phony bomb threats that caused the Point Pleasant Beach boardwalk to be evacuated back-to-back days earlier this month. According to a press release from the Point Pleasant Beach Police, 19-year-old Nkosi Jones was arrested and charged with two counts of false public alarm, a second-degree crime and two counts of terroristic threats, a third-degree crime for allegedly calling the main offices of Jenkinson's on both June 3 and 4 to make a fake bomb threat. "I'd like to thank all of the surrounding agencies that responded on two separate occasions to assist our officers with evacuating and searching the boardwalk," Point Pleasant Beach Police Chief Joseph A. Michigan said in the press release. "I'm thrilled to see the great work of our detectives in resolving this case. This should now result in the individual being held accountable for the incredible waste of taxpayer resources he created and serve as a warning for anyone else who may consider something so foolish in the future," Point Pleasant Beach Mayor Paul Kanitra said in a statement to Patch. Jones is currently being held at Ocean County Jail pending a hearing.
