Man Dies After 8 Motorcycles Crash Near Joliet

JOLIET, IL — The Will County Coroner's Office announced that 45-year-old Chicago motorcyclist Edwin Torres was killed late Saturday morning in a wreck involving eight motorcycles that were heading west along Interstate 80 approaching Interstate 55. "For unknown reasons, eight motorcycles crashed into each other," the Illinois State Police announced. "There was one confirmed fatality on scene. One rider was transported to a local area hospital with life-threatening injuries while six riders were transported to a local hospital with serious injuries." The fatality occurred along Interstate 80 in Troy Township late Saturday morning. State police said the crashes happened around 10:15 a.m. The Troy Township Fire District was the lead agency responding to the crash at mile marker post 126.5. All lanes of I-80 were reopened by 3 p.m.
