Press release from the City of Mentor: June 16, 2021 CITY OF MENTOR OHIO CDBG FEDERAL GRANTS PROGRAMS PUBLIC MEETING NOTICE AND REQUEST FOR PUBLIC COMMENT ANNUAL ACTION PLAN/FISCAL YEAR 2021 PROPOSED PROJECTS The City of Mentor City Council announces the proposed projects to be funded with the FY 2021 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) allocation in the amount of $156,306 from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). A public meeting will be held on Monday, June 28, 2021 at 3:00 PM for the purpose of seeking community input and comments regarding the FY 2021 Action Plan budget. Comments will be received until Friday, July 9th at 5:00 PM. FY 2021 PUBLIC SERVICES: $23,446 (limited to 15% of the total grant award) Activity 1: Lifeline 2-1-1: $5,000 Purpose: To provide funding for the operation of a call center for persons in crises. Activity 2: Lake County Free Clinic (Dental Services): $2,000 Purpose: To provide funds for dental services for low- to moderate-income persons. Activity 3: Lake County Free Clinic (Medical Services): $4,000 Purpose: To provide funds for medical services for low- to moderate-income persons. Activity 4: The Ecumenical Shelter Network of Lake County, Project Hope: $4,500 Purpose: To provide funds for staff costs for operation of the homeless shelter. Activity 5: Forbes House: $1,806 Purpose: To provide funds for appliances to be used in the domestic violence shelter. Activity 6: Mentor Senior Center Special Elders Program: $6,140 Purpose: To provide funds for the operation of programs designed to assist persons 80+ y/o. FY 2021 PROJECTS: $108,194 Activity 7: Western Reserve Community Development Corporation: $60,000 Purpose: To provide funding for the Single-Family Housing Rehabilitation program. Activity 8: Handicap Accessible Sidewalks: $25,000 Purpose: To provide funding for the construction of sidewalk ramps to improve accessibility. Activity 9: Handicap Accessibility at Wildwood Cultural Center: $23,194 Purpose: To provide funding for construction projects that improve accessibility. FY 2021 PROGRAM ADMINISTRATION ACTIVITIES: $24,666 (limited to 20% of total grant award) Activity 10: Program Administration: $24,666 Purpose: To provide funds for the administration of the CDBG program. PUBLIC MEETING The City of Mentor will hold a public meeting on Monday, June 28, 2021 at 3:00 PM for the purpose of receiving public input and comments regarding the use of the FY 2021 CDBG funds prior to submitting the FY 2021 Action Plan to HUD. The public meeting will be held remotely via WebEx and will begin at 3:00 PM.
