Female German Shepherd - Pure Breed 3-4 years old Project Dog (Please Read This Whole Post)   Here's the back story! In October 2020 I was passing under the Toll 45 and Lake Creek Over Pass in Cedar Park when I noticed a large dog that was chained to a Walmart shopping cart with a 3/8 rusted chain that couldn't have been more than six feet long. It was attached to the dog's neck with a pad lock and also one on the cart. If you aren't aware 3/8 chain is what is used to lift truck engines, it's extremely heavy. A very cruel way to restrain any animal. I couldn't help but also notice the dog was badly EMACIATED as I could see no food or water anywhere, she had almost no fur and was covered with a mange like rash. The flies were literally eating her alive through her bare and bleeding skin.  She looked totally depressed just laying there watching the cars pass with a look that was almost resigned to knowing she was going to starve to death chained to that cart. As hard it was I drove off. For the rest of the day this stuck with me, actually it haunted me. The next day coming up on the same intersection I was hoping she was gone, but that wasn't the case. Not only was she still there with no food or water, it didn't look like the cart had moved at all. This time I wasn't going to ignore it so I did what any reasonable person would do, I tried to call the police who referred me to animal control who basically blew me off. With no sign of anyone around I said to hell with this heading over to Lowes across the tollway and bought a pair of bolt cutters to cut the pad locked chain off her neck. When I came back, she didn't even move as I started to snap the pad lock off, it was like she understood what I was doing. However, when I got the chain off, she came to life running in circles and doing the happy dog squeal. All I said to her was "c'mon" with her following me to my truck. When I opend the back door she hopped right in laying on the floor. It was apparent she had been trained to riding in a vehicle at some point in her life. The Recovery The next day I got her to a vet who told me the chances of her making it were slim and euthanasia should be considered. I told him basically to KMA and found another vet. The next vet told me she didn't have mange but was badly sunburned due to losing her fur due to starvation and stress. Her skin was badly infected and needed IV antibiotics. She would also need a month long antibiotic pills and prednisone. Additionally she was full of internal parasites but was heartworm clear. Her teeth were all really good with none missing, she appeared to be no older than 3-4 years old, not spayed and unfortunately no chip. She also had a hematoma in her ear lobe caused when either hit or beat, the result of a blood vessel rupturing. That it had been a while back and calcified inside her ear lobe causing the floppy ear. It wasn't a priority but could be removed but she was to weak to sedate. Although she looked like she had pups at some point, she never has. This was a false pregnancy caused by stress and starvation. Something GSD's are prone to if stressed. That in her professional opinion, this is a pure breed German Shepherd possibly along the Heidlburg line due to her hip structure and stance. The first couple of years she was a well taken care of pet. Probably stolen. Seven months later, she has gained 30+ pounds, has most of her fur back and is a very happy animal. Why Am I Rehoming Her? An "HOA Karen" has declared war on me, that's why. I live on the corner in the entrance of our subdivision. Anyone who runs or walks passes right by my privacy fence coming or going. HOA Karen is a late 30's Instagram influencer wannabe suffering badly from departed youth syndrome who occasionally does her yoga stretches update to post on the side walk next to my house. Apparently this dog barked at her "ruining" her post that day therefore it must go! She reported me for having a dog larger than 40lbs. The HOA will not give me a waiver. Long story short I don't have the resources or time to fight this. Current Situation She has recovered from her starvation but still has the calcified lump in her ear. At some point that can be dealt with and her ear lobe should recover and stand. She still has occasional skin issues but nothing like when I got her. She is still not spayed and has just recently come out of heat. Her temperament is mild and gets along with our psychotic chihuahua well. She has never shown any aggression toward anyone. She plays with my children. She will bark at strangers with a bark that clearly says "Go ahead punk, make my day". She hates the UPS truck. She leads well on a leash and fetches tennis balls. She will also sit on command. I did not train her this, she already knew this from her previous life. See the YT vid below. She is current on all shots and has a recent rabies vaccination tag and certificate. She is not chipped. She is heartworm free, parasite free, no dental issues and very sweet. I have tried every no kill shelter in Texas to no avail. They are all run over due to COVID abandonment. The Williamson County Animal Shelter said her chances there are nearly zero for adoption. I am running out of options. She will never win a prize in a dog show, she has battle scars, a great personality and needs someone to take care of her. If you think you can take her on please help me out out. CL requires a "Rehoming Fee" but if you're the right person, I think you can figure what it will be. Send me an email letting me know you read the whole post, your current experience with large dogs and your contact info. Thanks for reading this whole thing!   Fetching Video https://youtu.be/IkXI3y4WINw
