I haven't lived in Jacksonville long, I am retired military/civil service. Been working on building my real estate business and had some spare time so decided to try the driving service that starts with a L..felt it would be a way to meet people, get to know the area, make a little extra money. I have to say after one day it was the worst job I ever had. The worst and not just because the pay ($65 pay for 8 hours work before deducting tax and gas and 300 miles of driving on my new car). No one tips..driving in heavy traffic and rain several miles to pick people up...maybe they figure that is too bad and I don't deserve a courtesy $1 tip. But the worst case was some seemingly rich people in Ponte Vedra Beach in the very exclusive beachfront area...I went to pick them up at their house at the end of the shift, my last ride...they piled into my car, 4 in the back of a 3 seat car and one in my passenger seat which is not normally done. Had me stop multiple times in route from their house to friends house to pickup, drop off other people...older rich crowd..pulling their masks down..and they get to their fancy high priced restaurant, my fare for all that aggravation, $3.19. NO Tip...yeah, that is what I earned, people are terrible, pay is insulting. The pitiful pay money is not worth the damage to the car and the time spent. Maybe one in 10 passengers is decent. The poorer people I picked up, at least they followed rules. Two people gave me a tip out of several riders, one was a very poor old sickly man...the other was a very nice woman in Villano beach, who had me drive her to the market to get a few items and take her home...everyone else was just getting almost free rides, messing up my car and being jerks. Never again!
