Please read through entire post and submit your resume if you think you meet our qualifications. We are a small business that is growing in Westerville, Ohio. We service Westerville, New Albany, and Alum Creek areas as well as Gahanna. We are looking for the right candidate to take over as well as assist in mowing operations while we attempt to add on another route and additional lawn care services. The right candidate can have lots of potential in the coming years to earn a good income and obtain a steady job as well as move up in the company as it grows and franchises out next year. That said, a clean criminal record and driving record, as well as a good work ethic and attitude are essential for the position. Work week takes just over 40 hours to complete with 2 experienced people. Closer to 50 hours with just one. You will be evaluated and you will be required to supply us with two contacts on your application from your previous two employers which will be contacted. Again, we are looking for the right candidate because we will be growing very quickly next year, and need dependability and precision from this person to carry on mowing duties as the owner begins managing crews and expanding. If you are currently or have worked with any of the local big businesses such as Reichle, Brightview, Five Seasons, etc., have a clean criminal record and drivers license, are 21 years of age, have reliable transportation, and want to try your hand at something different with long-term potential to grow into, then we want to hear from you. NOTE: We do NOT "Mow and Go". You have to know how to feather trim (meaning not browning out the grass when trimming!) as well as how to float the deck on zero turns around rough terrain, how to make 3-point turns and NOT turn up the lawns, and most importantly, pay attention to your surroundings while you work. We work in Middle-Upper class neighborhoods primarily, so these are all keys to success. Potential candidates need experience using zero turn and push mowers as well as trimming, steel blade edging, blowing off the finished product, and general attention to detail. Ability to follow routes that have been optimized for you, drive an 18ft dual axle trailer (open, soon to be trailer-less), log completed properties daily, and take note of any equipment fixes that are needed as well as keeping a neat and professional personal appearance daily are essential. Jeans, shorts, proper footwear (work shoes or work boots, no sneakers, etc.), and non-offensive shirts are acceptable work attire. Company shirts and sweatshirts will be provided starting next season. Ability to mow professionally is a MUST (knowing how to stripe multiple yards together, changing up the stripes weekly, keeping grass out of the beds, double bordering if necessary, mowing fast food establishments, etc.) One month trial period upon hire where I will be working with you to ensure adequate understanding of the route and duties associated with the properties. After one month, we will reassess your pay and potentially give you a raise. After, you'll be working with me for half of the work week for the remainder of the season as well as during leaf collection so you can be taught the ins and outs of the route. Route consists of mostly residential properties and some commercial, and many of the properties are consolidated to specific days to minimize travel times and increase productivity. Most properties are in Westerville/ Alum Creek, and New Albany areas. Must be able to decipher weeds from plants. Pay would be negotiable in the form of hourly or salary and based on experience/performance, with the option of a year-end % bonus based upon satisfactory completion of the season with minimal complaints, no accidents, and zero late/no call/no shows. We are going to start growing into a franchise direction next year, and the right candidate will have opportunity to grow as we make that shift.
