Documentary of the renowned garden designer of NYC's High Line and Chicago's Lurie Garden followed by a Q&A with two landscape architects. This is a free screening at YES Cinema of Five Seasons: The Gardens of Piet Oudolf, a documentary on world-renowned garden designer Piet Oudolf, who is a leader in the emerging New Perennial Movement. The film is presented in partnership with the Columbus Pollinator Committee and Columbus Design Institute and seeks to galvanize community awareness about the need to protect and expand pollinator habitat in Columbus and connect this thinking to the design of public spaces. Oudolf’s work informed landscape architect Rachel Kavathe’s recent designs for Fresh Start on Washington and 7th streets and works in symbiosis with nature’s natural ecosystem functions. The screening will be followed by a conversation and Q&A with Kavathe and Sarah Hurt Evans, landscape architect, and moderated by Ben Valentine of Columbus Design Institute. Doors open at 9:30 am, tickets are free but required for entry. The screening is made possible by a grant from Duke Energy Foundation. Columbus Regional Health employees volunteering to plant at Fresh Start for United Way's Day of Caring. Landmark Columbus Foundation cares for, celebrates, and advances the cultural heritage of Columbus, Indiana.
