The meeting will discuss how we can individually and collectively overcome the violence in the area, the pop-up parties and littering. GCI is saddened by the senseless killings in our community. It is troublesome that the last two weekends the 75th Street Boardwalk has seen pop-up parties with over 1,000 people each night. A mass shooting occurred Saturday, June 12, 2021, at 2 a.m. at 75th Street and Prairie near the 75th Street Boardwalk. Kimfier Miles, 29, was killed and nine other ages 29- 42, were injured when two men approached a large group of people and opened fire. At the meeting we will discuss how we can individually and collectively overcome the violence in the area, talk about how the pop-up parties have been influenced on social media and the keeping the community clean. The Greater Chatham Initiative's mission is to strategically invest in the Chicago Communities of Chatham, Greater Grand Crossing, Avalon Park, and Auburn Gresham, so that they can re-emerge as communities of opportunities and choice.
