It's time to get back to school, and we have school supplies for children of single parents! Just in time for back to school, we have FREE school supplies for children of single moms! Single Mom Strong is fortunate to again be the beneficiary of Bank of The West's Backpack Drive! Bank of the West's MixCity team members are committed to facilitating an environment supportive of the personal and professional growth of women. They recognize that, now more than ever, families are experiencing financial and other challenges, and they want to help! Register to receive one backpack per child (limit three per family, while supplies last) then head over to the Empowerment Center parking lot on July 31st. You will DRIVE-THRU to select age-appropriate items from four stops in our parking lot: Stop 1 will offer back-packs. At Stop 2, children will choose from binders, folders and notebooks. Stop 3 will offer pens, pencils, markers and erasers, and Stop 4 will have all of the extras: scissors, glue and more. A volunteer will be present at each stop to distribute the items. The details: Backpacks MUST be picked up at this distribution event. Those that are not present for pickup will forfeit their right to a backpack or supplies. The last car will be admitted into the parking lot at 11am, so please arrive no later than 11am and enter the Pratt Ave. entrance. To qualify, the child must be registered with Single Mom Strong for the 2021 year. Registered children have completed an emergency form at a Single Mom Strong event OR have registered for the Men's Mentoring team or any EmpowerME program. A registration form will be emailed to all families who register for this event, who do not have a child registration form on file with Single Mom Strong. There is no purchase necessary and no obligation.  All children of single mothers are welcome to receive this benefit.  THIS TICKET DOES NOT ENTITLE YOU TO A BACKPACK.  YOU MUST HAVE REGISTERED YOUR CHILD(REN) AS EXPLAINED ABOVE.  Thank you! Statistics shows that children of single mothers suffer in a variety of ways and the mothers often find themselves living in poverty and riddled with guilt or frustration. But, we are here to change the statistics.  We believe that single mothers and their children do not have to be negatively impacted by this circumstance. In fact, being "single-mom-strong: having grit and determination; refusing to fail", is not detrimental at all... Single Mom Strong exists for the empowerment of single mothers and their children through enrichment, encouragement and educational programs.  Funds raised are used to advance our mission. It is the mission of Single Mom Strong to create a community of single mothers and children in support of one another, while empowering them to be their best selves, through enrichment, encouragement and educational programs.
