Here’s to the Roots!: A Local Musician Appreciation Showcase is Kansas City’s first Sunday afternoon concert to celebrate local musicians. Kris and Havilah Bruders host the concert series, in collaboration, with the Folk Alliance International, KKFI, and Midwest Music Foundation. The concert series is from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at PH Coffee and SoGal at 2200 Lexington Ave, Kansas City, MO 64124
The three-hour long concert series includes a featured artist who will play followed with performances by local artists in our open mic. Musicians of different genres will collaboratively play together in appreciation of music. The concert series will end with a toast of, “Here’s to the Roots!,” at the end of the event.
Honoring musicians and their impact on our local economy is one of the main emphases of the concert series. It is a place for local artists to showcase their talent and for the audience to express their musician appreciation. Some featured artist will be aired live on KKFI’s River Trade Radio with Kasey Rausch and Mikal Shapiro on Sunday mornings, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
