In this full-time, year-round position, you'll learn about residential HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) and Electrical by working on a team that installs high-efficiency cooling and heating systems. Eco Performance Builders is a licensed HVAC, General, and Insulation contracting company with headquarters in Concord, CA. We hire apprentices so they can be trained "the Eco Performance way" while moving up our Career Ladder(s). The work we do makes homeowners more comfortable, and healthier. Our services also help clients "go green" as they switch their homes from gas to all-electric. You would like a job that involves working with your hands. You have done some type of labor in the past (even if at home), and you enjoy learning how things work. -Physically fit and able to easily fit into tight spaces. By law, crawl spaces need only be 18-inches high. In this career, you’ll spend a good amount of your time working in tight (confined) spaces: attics and crawl spaces. For this reason, you must be able to hold up your body weight as you crouch, crawl, and move equipment (heat pumps, air ducts, tools, etc.) into these areas. -You're seeking a CAREER, not just a job. These positions all come with homework, after-work training, and certifications that you'll need to study for in order to become a certified HVAC Technician. We will help you study for your EPA certification and will pay for the test on your behalf. Employees also take books home and study for tests at their own pace in order to earn raises. -Clean CA driver's license record and your own vehicle; truck (preferred). You will report to work at the job site each morning at 7:00 a.m. Most jobs are in the East Bay: central Contra Costa County, Oakland, and Berkeley. -Free of illegal drugs. You can pass a drug test and agree not to use non-prescription drugs during work hours. -Avid learner, fast and have a great memory. Our best team members hustle at a faster-than-average pace and you’ll be expected to work alongside them at their pace. -Able to pass a background check. You’re free of recent or major crimes in the past five years. Note: we are open to those who do have a criminal history, and welcome each candidate on a case-by-case basis. -Vaccinated for COVID-19 or willing to become vaccinated before your first day of employment. -Detail-oriented and enjoy solving technical problems. -Candidates must be willing and able to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and breathe through a full-face respirator while carrying up to 40 pounds of equipment. (Due to the requirements to wear a full-face respirator year-round, this position is not a good fit for folks who vape or smoke cigarettes.) -Hardworking and ambitious. Bonus points for: -Having knowledge of hand and/or power tools. Compensation: This is a training opportunity in which you will learn HVAC and electrical on the job while being paid $18.00 to $20.00 per hour. Overtime is paid at $27.00 to $30.00 per hour when worked. We offer 6 paid holidays in the first year, 3 sick days, a contribution toward your medical benefits (Kaiser), and 401(k) retirement savings matching. We also provide a few basic starter tools, masks, hand sanitizer, and free training every other Thursday evening. We pay for your EPA (refrigerant) test and provide study books so you can move up our Training Tracker in order to increase your compensation. You will be responsible for buying your own tools and may do so through a company-sponsored program called T.A.P. - the Tools Acquisition Program.
