STONEHAM, MA — The town has settled on Cataldo Ambulance as its ambulance and emergency medical dispatch vendor, Town Administrator Dennis Sheehan and Fire Chief Matthew Grafton announced Thursday. Stoneham will move on from Action Ambulance and begin a three-year deal with Cataldo June 30. There will be no gap in service. A news release said Cataldo offered the best proposal and was judged on its equipment/ambulance availability, low ambulance rates to customers, availability of advanced training resources for the Stoneham Fire and Police Departments, availability of additional resources, the overall quality of their proposal, references from other communities, and the deliverability of modern tools including automated chest compression devices and powered stretchers, and regional overdose tracking data. "We are excited to announce our partnership with Cataldo Ambulance," Grafton said. "As we turn a new page, our community will have access to the most modern and advanced emergency medical services and equipment." EMS Coordinator/Firefighter Jim McLaughlin, Town Health Agent Erin Hull, Grafton, Police Chief James McIntyre and Procurement Officer April Lanni were on the committee that chose Cataldo. "I want to thank the members of the Ambulance Selection Committee who reviewed multiple proposals, conducted site visits and ultimately identified Cataldo Ambulance as the best fit for our community's needs," Sheehan said.
