SALEM, MA — The Salem Farmers' Market will open at the Bentley Innovation School on Thursday with plans to move the market back downtown to Derby Street by the end of the summer. The market, with more than 20 returning vendors, runs from 3 to 7 p.m. each Thursday through Oct. 14. "The Salem Farmers' Market being able to continue at Bentley School last year was one of the great wins of 2020," Salem Main Streets Executive Director Kylie Sullivan said. "We believe that the market plays an important role in our community for not only as a valuable point of food access but also to provide a sense of normalcy and togetherness as we continue to rebuild." Sullivan said that while coronavirus-related restrictions for the summer were uncertain this spring, it was decided to begin the season at the Bentley School. Now that all virus restrictions have expired, there are plans to return to the Derby Square location later in the season. Eat fresh: Patch's 2021 Massachusetts Farmers Market Guide The largely volunteer-run market includes food and goods from Clark Farm, Maitland Mountain Farm, Grant Family Farm, Merrimack Farm, Heavens Harvest Farm, Long Hill Orchard and Wally's Vegetables. There will also be live music, community group tables and non-food vendors. Face coverings are discretionary, but visitors are asked to respect vendors, organizers and other shoppers who choose to wear them. Anyone who is not feeling well, or experiencing coronavirus symptoms, is asked not to attend. EBT is accepted and shoppers are asked to either bring a recyclable bag or purchase one at the market.
