Description
WEST HAVEN, CT — A West Haven juvenile was arrested on a warrant by Monroe police Thursday in connection with the theft of a wallet and credit cards from a vehicle in town in late May, according to authorities.
The juvenile's identity was not disclosed due to their age, nor did police disclose where the vehicle was parked when the wallet was stolen on May 26.
Police said the victim learned of the theft after their bank notified them of purchases from "Champs Sports" and "Footlocker" totaling $1,079.
"During the investigation, Detectives obtained surveillance footage of the fraudulent purchases showing the individual who made them," wrote Monroe Police Lt. Stephen Corrone in a statement. "Based upon prior dealings with this department and others in the area, detectives were able to positively identify the suspect as a juvenile from the City of West Haven."
Police arrested the juvenile at the Bridgeport Juvenile Detention Center, where the juvenile was being held in connection with an unrelated case.
The juvenile was charged with illegal use of a credit card in excess of $500, illegal furnishing of goods in excess of $500, payment card theft and identity theft.
The juvenile is scheduled to appear in court on June 23.
