Highland Dance Competition at the St. Andrew's Society of Detroit Annual 172nd Highland Games SCOTDANCE USA 2021 APPROVED COMPETITION OPEN TO ONLY US DANCERS. ScotDance USA Competition Registration # USMW-0201 All Dance Entries must be made by July 30, 2021. NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED. Please visit our FAQ page for all details on COVID policies and procedures. Every individual that enters the dancing area will need to sign a waiver. This is the form that indicates the individual is not ill, experiencing COVID, etc. SCOTDANCE USA COVID-19 RULES Dancers must arrive in costume, completed hair, and make-upChanging areas will not be availableEach dancer must present a valid 2021 SDUSA Registration card with the new sticker on the backSocially distanced designated spaces will be available for dancers/family membersMasks/face coverings must be worn when outside of designated spaces and in the marshalling areaExtra masks will be available for those who forget to bring a mask or face coveringHand sanitizer stations will be available throughout the venueA paper bag with handles will be provided upon arrival for holding the dancer’s maskSDUSA Registration card must be presented at Registration and will be kept for you to pick up after awards are presentedSDUSA Waivers will need to be signed uponarrival. Entry is limited to advance ticket purchase only. No tickets will be sold at the gate on Friday. PRE-PREMIER COMPETITION: (morning competition)Pre-Premier Dancer Registration begins at 9:00 a.m. and closes at 9:30 a.m. Pre-Premier Competition begins at 9:00 a.m. with the Laddie followed by the 16 Pas De Basques. Premier Age Groups: (subject to change based on entries received) 7 and Under 1212 and Under 14 14 and Under 1616 and Under 1818 and OverPremier Dances: Scottish Lilt (4-step)Flora MacDonald (4-step)Blue Bonnets (4-step)Earl of Errol (4-step)COMPETITION RULESThis competition is governed by the rules and regulations of the S.O.B.H.D. The decisions of the judge(s) are final. No correspondence or discussion can be entered into between a judge and dancer/parent/guardian/teacher.All dancers must compete in their own category and age group (based on their age as of the day of the competition).Groups, order of the dancers and number of prizes are determined by the Competition Coordinators according to the number of entries received and the date of those entries.The first dancer to enter will be the last to dance in each category. All competitors must be in full Highland Dress to receive awards. Trophies will be awarded based on six places in each dance.Per S.O.B.H.D. rules, there are no trophies for Primary Dancers.PRIZES:Prize Money for Premier Competition 14 and Under 16: 1st - $70, 2nd - $50, 3rd - $35, 4th - $25, 5th - $20, 6th- $1016 and Under 18: 1st - $80, 2nd - $60, 3rd - $45, 4th - $35, 5th - $25, 6th- $1518 and Over: 1st - $100, 2nd - $75, 3rd - $50, 4th - $40, 5th - $30, 6th- $20Prize Money for the Dancer of the Day Dancer of the Day: $100Dancer of the Day Runner Up: $50LODGING INFORMATION:Our Host Hotel is Hyatt Place, 19300 Haggerty Rd, Livonia, MI (734) 953-9224 Mention the Highland Games to receive a group rate of $105/night. Rate includes a complimentary breakfast. PARKING INFORMATION:Dance Competition Parking: (FRIDAY)FREE on-site parking on Friday, August 6. Use the entrance off Newburgh Road. Highland Games Parking: (SATURDAY)On-site parking (scarce after 10am) is available for $5. Entrance off Newburgh Road. FREE Shuttle Parking is availble at Schoolcraft College (between 6 and 7 Mile Rds on Haggerty Rd) and also at Hyatt Place (19300 Haggerty Rd). Service will be approximately every 5 minutes. SPECTATOR INFORMATION:Every Spectator must have a ticket to gain entrance into the dance area and must sign a ScotDance USA Assumption of Risk Waiver. (waiver available at highlandgames.com)Spectators ages12 and Under do not require a ticket. However, a ScotDance USA Assumption of Risk Waiver must be completed for each child by a parent or guardian. (waiver available at highlandgames.com)HIGHLAND GAMES DEMONSTRATIONS: (Saturday)Highland Dance Demonstrations will be also held at the 172nd Annual Highland Games. We encourage dancers and their families to attend the games on Saturday, August 7. To register to participate in Dance Demonstrations, select your time slot. Dancers may participate in more than one time slot. No additional waivers will be required to participate on Saturday. $5 from each dancer registration fee will go to ScotDance USA.
