ARLINGTON, VA — Arlington County Police are asking the public's help in identifying a woman they say purchased a used car from a local resident with a fraudulent check, according to a police release.
On June 5, a woman identifying herself as "Stacy James" arrived at the home of an Arlington resident to complete the purchase of a used car listed by the victim on Facebook Marketplace, according the release. After inspecting the vehicle, the woman handed the victim what appeared to be a cashier's check. The victim's bank notified them on June 10 that the check was fraudulent.
Police described the suspect as a white woman, who stood about 5-foot-2 and weighed 155 pounds, with multiple piercings on her left ear. She also had long red/purple hair. ACPD released surveillance photos of the woman.
