GRAND CANYON, AZ — A Lakewood man died Monday during a boating trip in Grand Canyon National Park, the National Park Service said. James Crocker, 59, died on day six of a multi-day private boating trip on the Colorado River, parks officials said. Grand Canyon National Park received an alert from a personal locator beacon around 10 a.m. at the top of Hance Rapid, at mile 77 of the river. The Grand Canyon Regional Communications Center then received a report that CPR was in progress, officials said. Crocker was in the river, and members of his group pulled him out to begin CPR, according to a news release from the National Park Service. "Park rangers were flown into the location with the park helicopter and all resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful," the news release read.
