SANTA CRUZ, CA — The California Highway Patrol cited drivers and impounded cars this weekend gathered along State Route 35 as the agency confronts an uptick in reports of street racing and reckless driving.
CHP said it's also seen an increasing number of people reporting street racing along State Route 9.
On Saturday, CHP impounded two cars and cited drivers for issues such as driving without a valid license and having a modified exhaust system.
"Those who choose to drive recklessly can be arrested, fatally injured, or fatally injure an innocent person," CHP said. "As we head into these summer months, we ask everyone to continue to be responsible and drive safely."
