MARTINEZ, CA — A fire late Thursday morning along eastbound state Highway 4 in Martinez shut down the connector ramp to southbound Interstate Highway 680, the California Highway Patrol reported. Fire officials notified the CHP at 11:12 a.m. they were investigating a large amount of smoke in the area. At 11:22 a.m., CHP dispatchers said the fire was blocking the ramp.
