Tri-Valley Law Enforcement To Run For Special Olympics

LIVERMORE, CA — Officers with the California Highway Patrol Dublin office and Livermore Police Department will run through the streets of downtown Livermore Monday to raise money for Special Olympics Northern California's Law Enforcement Torch Run. Officers run from team to team carrying the "Flame of Hope" torch, which is symbolic of the celebration of diversity. The annual event draws about 1,000 officers each year and began in 1996. Special Olympics Northern California serves some 26,000 athletes, and works with more than 600 schools and nearly 137,000 students. "The Special Olympics Athletes have been working hard during the Pandemic and we strive to support them," said CHP Capt. Christopher Sherry, head of the Dublin office. "This is another way we build trust in our community and ensure diversity, equity and inclusion is promoted." CHP has raised $1,500 for the torch run so far. Donate to CHP's campaign here.
