NORTHPORT, AL — The Northport City Council will hold a special called work session Monday at 4 p.m. to discuss longterm goals and plans for the Northport Housing Authority. District 3 Councilman John Hinton confirmed to Patch that he Council had requested the meeting in an effort to get a better understanding of how the Northport Housing Authority plans to approach the future. The work session will be ahead of Monday's regular City Council meeting. Click here to view the full agenda. "We're just simply wanting to learn more about their long-range plans and those kinds of things," Hinton said. "I think we have to appoint or reappoint for that position on the Housing Authority Board, too, because those positions rotate on and off .. it's just kind of to get in closer contact with the Housing Authority. We don't have a lot of close contact with them right now. Council President Jeff Hogg also stressed the importance of maintaining an open dialogue with respect to what the future may hold. "With a new mayor, Council, and city administrator, I feel that reaching out to community partners to discuss vision and long term planning is the key to continued partnership but also a thriving community," Hogg said.
