GROUNDSKEEPER If you love to be in the outdoors and working with nature and plants, in beautiful gardens, this position is perfect. Job Description The Groundskeeper will be responsible for the overall maintenance and upkeep of the venue grounds and landscaping on a daily basis. Duties Responsible for manually watering all plants and flowers located on venue grounds (most are watering with the automatic irrigation system, but some areas dry out in summer and in pots). Responsible for mowing the ceremony areas lawn with bagging mower, then other areas with a riding mower. Responsible for blowing leaves from sidewalks, pool area, driveway and lawn areas. Responsible for occasional fertilizing of grass and beds with natural fertilizer. Also occasional mulching of beds. Responsible for weeding, mulching and shrub/tree trimming whenever necessary or as directed. Responsible to weed-eat the path ways. Clean venue grounds and removes litter and trash on a daily and consistent basis. Help with chair set-up and take down in ceremony area and floor clean up in pavilion as needed. Emptying trash cans into dumpsters as needed. Set up and/or take down of chairs in ceremony area. Specific Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Hours are somewhat flexible, but definitely Friday and/or Saturday mornings. Ability to exercise good judgment in regards to venue grounds maintenance and upkeep needs. Work with minimal supervision. Follow directions thoroughly. Pay: $20 per hour. Must have own transportation to Hummingbird House (12 miles from downtown Austin). Prefer candidates with lawn maintenance and/or irrigation experience and some plant knowledge.
