Sunday, July 25 - Friday, July 30, 2021, 5 1/2 days A non-refundable deposit of $350. is required to hold your place in the workshop. The balance of $600. is due by July 18, 2021.

The Ossining, New York Workshop begins on Sunday with a 3-hour Portrait Demonstration in Pastel from 6:30 - 9:30 p.m. During the week, Monday - Friday - 9:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., artists will be working from life using a variety of female and male models. Wende will present an Oil Demonstration on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. This week-long workshop is a concentrated period of study of the development of a portrait using models. Wende will demonstrate her method of portrait painting with an explanation regarding materials, composition, drawing, values and color. Emphasis will be placed on training the eye to see how form is affected by light and developing an artist’s understanding of anatomy. Over the course of the workshop, development of composition, understanding values and working with color and paint quality will be discussed. Students will also have the opportunity to choose to paint a still life that Wende will prearrange. Personalized attention and encouragement are a hallmark of Wende’s instruction. Wende’s work encompasses both Oil and Pastel. She is a Master Pastelist with the Pastel Society of America where she has won numerous awards including the Gold Medal - Art Spirit Foundation in 2018 and 2019. In November, 2019, Wende was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award along with her husband, Daniel E. Greene N.A., from the Figurative Art Convention (FACE) hosted by Eric Rhoads and Peter Trippi. She has been included in exhibitions at the Butler Institute of American Art through the Portrait Society of America’s Inspiring Figures exhibition, the Pastel Society of America, and the Butler National Mid-Year Show. Her work has been shown in international group exhibitions nationwide. She is an exhibiting member of Allied Artists, Audubon Artists, Hudson Valley Art Association, Pastel Society of America and the Salmagundi Club where she has garnered additional awards for her work in oil and pastel. She has been a faculty member for the Portrait Society of America for their conventions in numerous cities and continues to teach in Westchester County, NY and in private workshops. Wende is the author of “Painting Children’s Portraits in Pastel” and has produced two instructional videos “Painting from Life” and “Children’s Portraits in Pastel”.
