Lost Fishing Rod at Lynnhaven Inlet

Last night around 10pm, I went fishing on Lynnhaven Inlet behind Westminister Canterbury by the old fishing pier. I stuck my Penn Squandron 3 with Penn Battle 2 reel in my sand spike. A few minutes after I sat down, I flashed my head lamp where my rod was and noticed it was missing. I managed to find my sand spike in the water, but my rod was nowhere to be found. No one was around to steal it. So, I'm guessing a big fish pulled hard and took it away. If by chance anyone seen this rod and reel combo, please let me know. The rod is 7ft. May still have a high low metal rig with 3oz pyramid sinker on it.
