Description
I work professionally on Amazon rainforest conservation. I'm American and my wife is Brazilian. We're moving to the Seattle area for family reasons and don't know many people. We have two kids.
To build a community I would like to organize an event for Brazilian-American families and friends. We could share diverse foods, showcase the diverse religions of the country (condomble, umbanda, spiritism, catholicism, etc.), feature different musical tastes, and consider the Brazilian footprint in the wider Seattle area (restaurants, acai stands, etc.).
So, I'd like to hire someone who has a pre-existing networks and knowledge about the Brazilian community in the wider Seattle and Pacific Northwest area. Are there relevant churches around? Are there Brazilian-ethnic enclaves? Are there any particular business families that might like to work together to build a local chapter of the Brazil Foundation? Who are the connectors? Who are the capoeira instructors? What local businesses do commerce with Brazil?
I'll pay $250 for one hour of your time to help me explore these questions and make plans about an event and possible future work together. We can meet in person or perhaps even do this over the phone.
All proposals are welcome. If you're an undocumented immigrant from Brazil and you have a local network of similar families I want to talk to you. If you're a former Samba parade organizer and have a local network I want to talk to you. If you're married into a Brazilian family and have a local network I want to talk to you. If you're a Portuguese language tutor and have local clients I want to talk to you. If you don't have a network but know someone who does, please also reach out.
If you celebrate this idea and want to volunteer for the event, I'd love to talk with you as well.
Please send me an email and tell me about yourself, your community, and what you do professionally. All are welcome.
Thanks!
