Fannin Tree Farm is looking for an experienced stump grinder and pesticide applicator to join their growing team in Frisco, Texas in their tree service department. Must have experience running commercial stump grinders (looking for more experience than someone who has rented a stump grinder for 1 or 2 stumps). Would be running Vermeer stump grinders. Must also have a pesticide licenses or be willing to get one within 6 months of employment. Fannin Tree Farm is a family owned and operated company with over 42 years in business. Job Duties: • Grinds or removes stumps with machinery or by hand. • Communicates with clients and meets their expectations. • Repairs damage to irrigation, utilities, lawns, fences, and walkways caused by stump grinding. • Clean up and haul off debris. • Ensures proper care in the use, routine inspections and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices. • Mix and apply pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, or insecticides through sprays, dusts, vapors, soil incorporation, or chemical application on trees. • Calibrate equipment to gauge the pounds or gallons per acre of pesticide used with the spreader or sprayer. • Communicate any concerns or problems regarding pesticide application to immediate supervisor. • Able to accurately report completed pesticide applications. • Communicate effectively with other employees to function as a team when necessary. • Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times. • Be aware of safety issues or concerns and report them to immediate supervisor. • Performs other related work, as necessary. Skills/Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. • Experience operating a stump grinder is required. • Must be able to safely drive, including in reverse, a company vehicle with or without an attached trailer. Driving test will be given to verify. • Must be able to read, write and comprehend written and verbal job instructions/information and complete daily paperwork. • Must be able to operate and service required tools and equipment. • Must have good hand-to-eye coordination. • Must be able to maintain balance over uneven terrain. • Knowledge of trees, shrubs and landscape equipment is helpful. • Applicants should have prior pesticide application experience. • Ability to perform heavy, physical labor daily in all weather conditions. • Excellent communication skills. • Critical Thinking. • Judgment and Decision Making. • Time Management. • Operation and Control. • Attention to Detail. • Adaptability/Flexibility. • Strong sense of safety. Education, Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: • At least 1 year of experience stump grinding, required. • At least 1-3 years’ experience in tree care, landscape management or other related area within the green industry. • Commercial Pesticide Applicator, preferred, or willing to get license within 6-months of employment. • Valid Texas driver’s license with a clean driving record (CDL not required). PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Sitting, standing, walking, climbing ladders, squatting/kneeling, reaching, grasping, pushing/pulling, twisting/bending, lifting/carrying up to 70 lbs. numerous times per shift, talking, hearing, and seeing. WORKING CONDITIONS: Spends most of time outdoors in possible temperature extremes, noisy environment, vibrations of body or extremities, risk of bodily injury from mechanical parts, electricity, etc. Possible exposure to fumes or odors that affect respiration and skin. Due to the inherently dangerous nature of the industry and requirements to work with or around hazardous equipment, employees must be able to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods of time. Hours: Monday to Friday 7:00am to 5:00pm. Saturdays, as needed. Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, supplemental Insurance and life insurance. Paid time off (sick and vacation) and paid holidays.
