Position information: The yard staff at Cal-Sierra typically work 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday. Overtime will be required as the business requires it, typically in April through September. Saturdays are rare and almost always voluntary. We normally only require one Saturday per year at physical inventory. Typical duties consist of: • Stacking pipe for storage • Picking pipe for shipment • Bundling pipe for shipment • Loading trucks for delivery • Loading customer will calls • Receiving inbound materials • Torch cutting pipes • Yard clean up and organization • Minor lift maintenance and repairs Qualifications: Candidates should have at least 2 years experience driving large forklifts. Our machines are typically 25,000 to 28,000 lb capacity with 8-foot forks. We load a wide variety of delivery trucks for our deliveries and customer pickups. Careful loaders are critical to our customer service commitment. Candidates must be committed to their own safety and the safety of those around them. Some large pipes can weigh in excess of 10,000 lbs and it is critical that they are handled in accordance with all of our established safety protocols. Welding skills, a commercial driver’s license, and pipe experience are strongly preferred. Loading round freight is not the same as loading pallets or bundles of lumber. Pipe or odd sized freight experience will be very valuable. Knowledge of pipes and their various types and applications will also be helpful. Bilingual Spanish speakers are preferred.
