Make your own diagonal plaited willow bark basket. In this workshop, you will learn the technique of diagonal plaiting, which is applicable to many materials, while creating a beautiful and useful vessel of willow bark. You will have some options in color and shape to make your own unique basket, which will be approximately 6"x6"x8". Ages 14 to adult welcome. NOTE: This workshop will be held outdoors at the covered pavilion located at the entrance to our studio. We will have an hour break for lunch between Noon-1:00. Feel free to bring your own lunch to eat outside, or check out one of the local restaurants. $79 workshop fee does not include materials. A separate materials fee of $50 is payable to the instructor the morning of the workshop. Instructor bio: Among other things, Penny Hewitt is a homeschooling mom, craftsperson and homesteader, who is inspired by the traditions of other cultures to revitalize and share skills useful to everyday life. She strives to grow, craft and participate in seasonal harvests for as many of her needs and wants as possible. She is grateful to be part of a generous community of talented makers and growers with whom she trades skills, ideas and wares.
