Given the great success of the play Hamilton!, and the approach of Jefferson’s July 4, what better time to look at the actual life of Alexander Hamilton, and the real backstory between him and his chief rival, Thomas Jefferson! During their time as ranking officials in the first federal Administration, under President Washington, Secretary of State Jefferson and Treasury Secretary Hamilton laid down the dividing lines on many of the issues we still battle over today. Including immigration, taxes, political scandal, the size and role of the military, religion, tariffs, foreign affairs, and much more. This unique tour of the White House area of the capital they helped found will contrast their dramatically different views; take a look at some of the important episodes in their eventful lives; and examine which sides they might have taken on the critical issues of today!
