Description

An exclusive, never-before-seen walking tour of Civil War Concord July 3rd, 4th and 5th only! Join Concord Tour Company as we commemorate the 160th Anniversary of the beginning of the Civil War with this special event, "A Duty So Severe: A Tour of Civil War Concord" - led by expert historian and tour guide extraordinaire, Richard Smith! When the Civil War began in April 1861, Concord, Massachusetts, like the rest of the North, responded with a mixture of patriotism, fear, and hope. 450 men of Concord would go off to fight in the war; 49 of them would lose their lives in battle or from disease. In this special Independence Day Weekend walking tour you'll get to know the town as it would have been in 1861; you will see where Concord's soldiers enlisted and drilled, and where the women of Concord gathered to sew socks and roll bandages for their husband's, sons and brothers. We complete our adventure with a walk through the peaceful and picturesque Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, where you will be introduced to some of the men and women who experienced the war first hand, including some who paid the ultimate price to save the Union and end slavery. This tour/event is around 90 minutes and covers about a mile and a half. Reservations required, tickets limited. Concord Tour Company is a provider of historical tours and events for groups of all sizes and ages. The best way to see all that is historic Concord, Massachusetts!
