Description
This class will take you through the steps to square your lumber stock down to size with power tools. This class is meant as a follow-up to the Workshop Intensive or Jointer/Planer & Table Saw/Band Saw Basics classes. Ace Certification for the jointer, planer and table saw is required for this class. This workshop is 2 hours Learn the order of operations to take a larger than needed piece of stock and accurately cut it down to an appropriate size for your project. Rough cutting sheet-goods (plywood, etc.) using the panel sawHow to get good square reference edges using the jointerStock removal to achieve the desired thickness using the planerCutting the board down to final dimensions using the table and miter sawsWhat to bring : A notebook or well-charged phone for taking notes.What to wear : Closed-toe shoes, short sleeves and, work clothes. Long hair must be tied back.About Masks and COVID at Ace Makerspace Masks are now optional for vaccinated people in Ace spaces. If you are vaccinated wearing a mask is now optional in Ace Spaces. Please follow all posted signage in other parts of the building. Unvaccinated people need to wear a mask in all Ace spaces. If you are not vaccinated please were a mask in all Ace spaces with other people for your own safety as recommended by the CDC. Sanitization. Cleaning your touchpoints and sanitizing your hands is still the right thing to do. These are the vectors of infection. Also, avoid touching your face. This especially important as COVID variants spread. It is also the easiest way to help keep yourself and others safe. Shaun is an amazing instructor and helps provide core education and safety training on woodworking tools. You can occasionally find him working on smaller decorative or furniture projects, or on the laser cutter creating templates for use on his projects in the shop.
