Join us to learn more about the history of anti-Asian hate in America and how to get empowered to take action!
On behalf of the Pacific Marine Mammal Center Diversity and Inclusion Committee, you are invited to hear from community champions, Stacy Yung and Virginia Nguyen, from Educate to Empower, as they share the history of anti-Asian hate in America and empower us to take action. Anti-Asian hate is a virus that has plagued the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) community for centuries. To help us learn from the past, they will share this dark racist history while bringing to light AAPI heroes and achievements.
The ultimate goal is to answer the question, “What now?” Together, we can act on the individual, local, and national levels to #STOPAAPIHATE now and forever.
Special guest California State Senator Dave Min to present opening remarks.
This event is open to the public. There will be limited seating. Register NOW!

Educate to Empower is the passion project of Stacy Yung and Virginia Nguyen. They are history teachers that are committed to social justice, equity, and antiracism. As AAPI curriculum specialists and DEI trainers, you will often find them facilitating DEI and antiracism workshops. Together they host workshops, share lesson plans, and create resources to empower educators with the tools to create diverse, equitable, and inclusive communities. Virginia and Stacy believe that educators committed to diversity, equity, inclusion and allyship can dismantle systems of oppression and change the world.
