The Laborer performs a variety of tasks under the close supervision of supervisors and managers. These tasks may include assisting with an extra workload, covering absences and vacations, and supplementing crews to meet unusual production changes.
We are looking for first shift and second shift (2-11 pm).
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Picks, separates, and sorts metal materials.
- Cleans and lubricates equipment, maintains a manufacturing area free from debris and dirt, and readies or puts away tools as assigned.
- Closely follows directions to operate machinery, hold or supply materials and tools, and load or unload items on machinery and assembly lines.
- Light mechanical work involving the use of a screwdriver, wrench, hammer, or basic tool.
- Performs various manual labor jobs at the plant.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to read a tape measure.
- Good verbal communication skills.
- Ability to listen, understand, and follow directions.
- Ability to work in a variety of roles.
Education and Experience:
- Previous experience preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Manual dexterity as needed to operate a variety of machinery and equipment.
- Must be able to work in various weather conditions and tolerate exposure to typical noises and smells associated with the scrap yard environment.
